100% Certified and Inspired: From Certification to Transformation and towards EdTech Success

Disclaimer:

This speech was delivered as a micro keynote titled “100% Certified, 100% Inspired: How Can We Lead EdTech Success?” during the Future of Learning Southeast Asia (FOLSEA) conference on November 23, 2024. The insights and reflections shared in this keynote are based on my experiences as an educator and leader at Xavier School, highlighting our journey toward EdTech excellence and our commitment to innovation in education.

Good morning, everyone! Let me ask you: “What if every educator in your school was certified in using Apple technology?” Imagine the possibilities—the impact on students, the growth in your community, and the transformation in how teaching and learning happen.

Today, I want to share the story of Xavier School, where 100% of our grade school teachers are Apple Teachers. But this is more than just a number or a badge. It represents a shift in culture—a commitment to leadership, collaboration, and innovation in education technology.

And while we celebrate what technology can do, I want to emphasize one thing: no technology can ever replace a teacher. Technology is powerful, but it’s the teacher who brings it to life—connecting with students, inspiring curiosity, and shaping their dreams. As we discuss the role of technology in transforming education, let’s not forget that at its heart, teaching remains profoundly human.

Why 100% Certification Matters

Let’s start with the impact of having all our grade school teachers certified as Apple Teachers. It’s more than a credential; it’s a statement of readiness. Certification equips educators with the confidence to integrate technology meaningfully into their teaching.

At Xavier, the certification journey has encouraged exploration, innovation, and collaboration among our teachers. It’s not just about using tools; it’s about evolving teaching practices to better engage and inspire students. And the results? Improved teaching quality, deeper student engagement, and more impactful learning outcomes.

But here’s the thing: Apple Teacher Certification is just the beginning. It’s the foundation for what comes next. Because of our commitment to a growth mindset and collaborative culture, Xavier has produced almost half of the Apple Distinguished Educators in the Philippines. And since 2016, we’ve been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School.

Xavier School is proud to serve as a benchmark for innovative technology integration in the Philippines and across the region. We’ve set the standard for how technology can empower educators and elevate learning experiences. And yet, we know it’s not the technology itself—it’s the teacher who makes all the difference. Teachers use these tools to amplify their impact, build stronger relationships with students, and unlock new ways to learn.

Igniting EdTech Brilliance: Beyond Certification

As I said earlier, certification is just the starting point. What truly drives EdTech success is the leadership and vision that come with it. At Xavier, we’ve made it a priority to nurture that leadership.

We encourage our teachers not just to achieve certification but to mentor one another, share best practices, and take risks with new teaching strategies. This culture of collaboration and innovation ensures that every certified teacher becomes a leader, inspiring others to grow.

The result? A community where each educator contributes to collective brilliance, and every student benefits from their shared expertise.  Technology gives us the tools, but it’s our teachers who take those tools and transform them into meaningful learning experiences. This is where leadership matters—when technology is used not as a crutch, but as an extension of the teacher’s vision and purpose.

A Sneak Peek into “Mission 100%”

This brings me to “Mission 100%,” the session I’ll be leading. Here, we’ll take a closer look at how Xavier achieved 100% Apple Teacher Certification and built a culture of EdTech excellence.  We’ll explore practical strategies for creating a community of inspired educators—teachers who coach, mentor, and lead. It’s about turning certification into transformation, building an ecosystem where every teacher thrives and every student benefits.

Most importantly, we’ll reaffirm the central truth of education: no matter how advanced our tools become, the teacher and the student remain at the heart of teaching and learning. Technology can enhance what we do, but it’s the teacher who inspires and transforms lives.

Call to Action

To wrap up, 100% certification is just the starting point. It’s the foundation for a bigger vision—one where every educator is empowered to lead, innovate, and collaborate. At Xavier, we’ve seen how this culture can transform classrooms, schools, and communities.

So, I invite you to join me for “Mission 100%.” Together, let’s explore how to build a culture of EdTech brilliance in your schools—one where technology empowers teachers and inspires students. Thank you.
