Belated New Year Reflections: Education, Innovation, and Personal Growth

2024 has been an incredible year of growth, innovation, and educational advocacy. And yes, I know it’s already January—this reflection is fashionably late but for the best reason: the holidays were all about family first, as it should be. With the celebrations behind me, I finally had the chance to sit down and reflect on a year filled with milestones and meaningful moments.

One of the most rewarding milestones this year was the publication of my book, “Empowered to Thrive: Igniting the Blended Learning Journey for the School,” published by REX Education. This book is a testament to my dedication to helping schools and educators navigate and embrace the blended learning journey with confidence and purpose. Partnering with REX Education to bring this resource to life has been an honor, and I am humbled by the opportunity to contribute to meaningful conversations about innovation in education.

Through Tagpros Education we launched GabAI—a groundbreaking AI tool made by Filipino teachers for Filipino teachers—along with a suite of features such as assessment and lesson designers, a feedback creator, and other tools to support teachers in crafting meaningful and impactful learning experiences. GabAI continues to empower educators to achieve their teaching goals effectively.

Additionally, my contributions to the DepEd MATATAG workshops have been a fulfilling opportunity to collaborate with educators and align efforts toward achieving MATATAG Goals. These talks and workshops emphasized the importance of technology integration and cultivating innovative, inclusive, and resilient educational practices. I thank COCOPEA, CEAP, PACU, and REX Education for these opportunities.

At Xavier School, I am particularly proud of the strides we have made as an Apple Distinguished School since 2016. This distinction continues to affirm our commitment to fostering an innovative culture and empowering teachers to grow in their craft, ultimately creating more meaningful learning experiences for our students. This I love to call the “collective brilliance!”

I am also deeply inspired by our Christian Life Education (CLE) teachers, who exemplify the school’s mission by nurturing values-driven education. Their impact in the classroom and their dedication to growing both professionally and spiritually have been a source of pride and hope.

As an education speaker and trainer, I was privileged to conduct workshops on innovation and 21st-century learning and teaching with various DepEd organizations, private schools, and organizations. Collaborating with educators from diverse institutions was both inspiring and rewarding, as we collectively explored strategies to enhance teaching and learning in the digital age.

2024 has not only been about accomplishments but also about building a community where educators are empowered to lead, innovate, and create lasting impact. As I move into 2025, slightly late but still energized, I’m excited to carry this momentum forward and continue championing transformative education.

PS: Dreading going back to school tomorrow… but hey, schoolwork will keep me on my toes! 😂
